NEET

National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), formerly known as the All-India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is the qualifying test for MBBS and BDS programmes in Indian medical and dental colleges. NEET exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The NEET examination, offers over 90,000 seats in MBBS and BDS Colleges of India, is usually conducted in the month of May every year (from the last 2 years [2020 & 2021] this was impacted due to COVID pandemic).

 

For interested candidates, in order to apply for the exam one who wishes to study medical courses must have Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology as compulsory subjects in Class 10th and 12th and must have passed in these subjects. It is compulsory for the candidate to show their passing certificate at the time of the counselling round. One must note that in case they opted for Mathematics also in class 11th and 12th with biology and biotechnology, marks in Mathematics will not be considered in NEET-UG-undergraduate exam.

Other than undergraduate courses, NTA also administers NEET post-graduation (NEET-PG), an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination for admission to various MD/MS and PG diploma courses.

The NEET exam is conducted online and in around 11 languages. The exam duration for NEET examination is 3 hours and it is required by a candidate to answer 180 questions. The exam paper is divided into three sections i.e Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology).

With the announcements for NEET results NTA also declares the counselling process. The schedule for NEET counselling gets uploaded on the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) website.
